Awnex’s founder, John Dicks, has a history in the fabric awning business going back to 1990 servicing the corporate chain store accounts. He began to notice a shift in the market where companies were moving to metal canopies as the fabric awnings weren’t a viable option for the long term. In 2003, he founded Awnex with the intention of servicing the new need for metal canopies and other architectural elements.

Awnex operates under three primary principles:
